Oversize cam gear?
When I see a cam gear described as .003, .005 etc, what part of it is oversize? Or undersize?

Re: Oversize cam gear?
I saw one about 20 years ago that had a plus sign ahead of the .003. (+.003)
It was .003 over on the pitch diameter, not the OD. |

Re: Oversize cam gear?
I believe it's the thickness of the teeth, to compensate for a worn crank gear. The crank gear has half as many teeth as the cam gear, so will wear faster but the cam gear is easier to change in the vehicle.
