Default 1953 Ford dash question

Were these originally painted to match to outside color of the car? Most I've seen thru the years are gray or black.
I ask as I'm interested in this '53 that's not too far from me. The dash is painted red like the car, otherwise it's 100% stock. I am generally a 90% purist.

No, they were not matched to the outside but to the interior color. Dash and window surrounds matched color. The only red one I remember seeing had tan color interior

We are talking car not truck right?
