This year, I hope to go to the show in Rollag. I was going to go last year, but Covid-19 got in the way. I especially want to see the huge horizontal engine formerly used to compress propane. I hear there are other fabulous things there.

Ah, yes the big Snow engine. Hopefully you can catch them starting it. Tandem twin cylinder with four combustion chambers, neat engine to say the least

For anyone interested in what they have there, you can check this out. (It's a little long, but that's because they have a LOT of stuff.)

Been there 5 out of last 7 years. My young daughter loves it, as do I. There is one building with miniature engines machinists built from scratch. Not to mention the operating steam shovels, tractor pulls, parades, multiple engine and tractor displays, and of course the steam train that operates all day long. Wait, this thread was about prony brakes, I think.

This has been an amazing dog-leg of an adventure while cruising the latest in flathead ford stuff. If you are like me, and LOVE machinery of all types, this is a really great thread. Not that the color of the background of a hub cap isn't important (this may be the only place on earth you will find it) but this guy and the 150 hp Case steamer is over the top. Thanks SO much for posting the info.

Read this for fun. This piece of jewelry is one of 2-3 Case 110s operating at Rollag. I dont know how many here have wives that would let you park your V8 in the living room.

The neat thing about Rollag is anyone displaying or operating any tractor or engine will take the time to answer questions. In 2019 a 65 HP steamer was parked with a sign "want a ride, just ask". My 10 year old daughter jumped at the chance. She has come to the mine with me and gotten rides in a 200 ton Tonka truck, a 240 ton coal hauler, "my" 65 yard dragline, a 24M blade, and a D11 dozer. She has gotten some unique rides compared to other children.

You know you are getting close to Rollag when you see the plumes of black smoke in the air, and the deep bellow of the Montana boiler's whistle.

Hey Tubman, Isn't there a vintage gasoline engine on display at some historic town in Florida that is said to be the largest Gasoline engine in the world or some such?

I don't know because I am down in the Keys, which is way off the beaten track.

I will "Google" it, now that you mention it.

EDIT : I just checked it out and it is east of Tampa a ways. Unfortunately, it looks like all events have been cancelled for the forseeable future.
