Default 1936 Temperature gauge work with a 1948 Flathead?

My temperature probe is in my drivers side water pump. Will I be able to use it if I drop in a slightly moddified 1948 Ford Flathead? If not, any ideas how to make it work? Thanks in advance. Mike

You'll need an adapter.

No problem. Just use an adapter. I believe it is 1/2" pipe to 5/8" thread. Common.

You need an adapter with a step or seat for the bulb flange to tighten against. Ford made one just for this, postwar engine in prewar Ford, and I think it is offered by the usual repro parts places. The adapter sets sold for aftermarket mechanical (not electric) gauge senders, like the one linked below, PROBABLY will work but I can't verify that.
