Default What Is This?

Hello,

I recently purchased my fourth (and last) A to restore. This one I would consider a barn find. It is stock and complete. Very little rust. It's been sitting in storage for three decades at a minimum.

Please help me in identifying the body style.

I know that it is a 1930 Fordor with a Briggs body. But, is it a sedan or deluxe sedan or a deluxe town sedan?

Did someone along the way add the spare tire holder to the passenger front fender and add a luggage rack in the back because the bolt that would hold the spare tire on the back is still there?

So, what's the difference between a sedan, deluxe sedan and deluxe town sedan anyway?

Thanks,

Steve

Town Sedan came with- cowl lights, rear dome light in an oval shape, woodgrain on the window surrounds and dash. It also has chrome doorpullls in the window frames and garnish molding under the window frames that wa also woodgrain,. Paint colors and interior were also different,. A Deluxe had all of this and only windows in the doors, not the side behind the rear door. Also sometimes called a blindback.

The oval light should be above the rear window while the Standard Sedan has the light more foward but just behind the front seat backrest.

The town sedan also has an arm rest in the middle of the back seat.

I'm supposed to take possession of a 30 model with the same color pattern this afternoon.
I think yours needs a shine and a tank of ⛽️. Then drive it!!

Thank you all for the replies.

Upon further investigation,

1. There are cowl lights that do not look like add-ons.
2. The dome light is round and just behind the front seat.
3. There is no grain of any type.
4. There is no arm rest in the middle of the back seat. No arm rests at all.
5. It does have a pull-down shade on the rear window.

I think that it's a Standard Sedan with cowl lights, a fender well and trunk mount.

I pulled the plugs. They look ok. The motor turns over with the crank. The goal is to see if it will start before I tear it apart.

I've purchased oil and a new battery. The gas tank is dry so a gallon needs to go in. But, the car really needs to be restored before driving around town. Bonus: cob webs.

It will be a fun project.

Thanks again.

Brian - weren't the door pulls Butler (satin) nickel, while the regular Fordors were bright nickel? The ones on my 1930 Town Sedan look like nickel, and that's the way I intend to re-plate them. (I don't have my Judging Standards at hand to check this out.)
