What is this collection of parts worth? (1946 NOS)

Hi,

First let me apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong place. I also posted this in the For Sale forum.

I'm trying to sell my dad's collection of NOS parts for a 1946 Ford. See attached file.

I have no idea what this is worth and I may try to auction the parts or sell to someone locally but I'd like to know the approximate value.

Are you looking to sell the parts as a lot or do you want to sell individual pieces? Also where are the parts located?

Tom, I regret to inform you that what you have is known as a basket case in the truest sense of the term. As such, you neither have a car nor a viable project. Your father had good intentions, and not unlike so many others, couldn’t put it all together. I would venture a guess that you may realize 2 to 3 thousand at most.

Alan, I agree with you nearly in full. I think you are very high on value though. Sold piece by piece, maybe $1000 or so. In a package? Less, maybe $500.

I would have to agree, sadly. Ten years earlier would make a world of difference unfortunately

The 46-48 sedans aren't bringing what they should around here. My 46 Fordor would bring $6-7k I think if I sold it in this area. The car runs and drives, has new brakes gas tank,ect. Project cars that are torn apart are a tough, tough sell even if something rare. I have a flyer for a 55 Crown Vic glass top that's in pieces on my desk. It's been for sale for several years with no takers. On a side note I went to visit my Dad yesterday on his 89th birthday. I try not to look too hard but I think he has 20 unrestored tractors. He knows the era where they were in demand has passed and he's running out of time. My opinion is the numbers Alan mentioned would be a really good day and Kube's numbers may be more reality. If you do find someone that is ambitious enough to restore it make them a sweet deal and I'll bet your Dad would approve.

I'm sure a lot of you feel like I do when I look at this post. I have spent a tremendous amount of time this winter cleaning up and organizing 40 years worth of old flathead era common, stock mechanical parts, that it seems will never be put to use. 3 3/4" cranks, exhaust manifolds, heads, on and on. Sad that there aren't people tripping over themselves trying to get ahold of this stuff. I just moved most of the big heavy stuff out of the shop into a nice dry lean-to shed to get a cleaner garage area to work on as I have 2 transmission pulls to do this spring and the mess was overwhelming and hard to sweep around. It's sad to read the opinions on price in this thread, but I know we saw it coming. Good thing we did it for the love, not the money. Can't wait to get in there over the weekend, with luck I will see 90% of the floor of my garage area by Sunday afternoon and finally sweep the floor.

Thank you everyone for you kind replies. I sort of thought the market wouldn't be there for this stuff.

I like 1942deluxe suggestion of making someone a package deal. I'm sure my dad would smile on someone actually restoring his car.

I may even give the parts away in exchange for someone taking the body etc. Either way I'll have to pay to have that body removed from the property.
