my 23 has just started to act up for the last 10 years it has always started up fine but now the only way it will start is I have to use starting fluid and then it starts and runs fine till it sits a couple of days any ideas on what to look at

Check the flow of gasoline through the carburetor after it sits next time. It could be a clog in the line or sticking float.

Ten years, I would try a fresh set of coils. NH or G ? I drain my carb & tank sediment/feeder monthly during driving season. This new corn gas is hard on parts, I also add some non-ethanol Trufuel on every fill up.

In years past I had some starting issues but those went away after installing an Optima in my T.

You can never have to many "nice TIGHT clean grounds", check those cables and what is helpfull is an addition ground wire off the starter "if you have one" to the frame, dirt and oil add resistance to the circuit. Good luck and let know how you make out with your 23.

Let me also add that checking the compression on each cylinder and pulling the side inspection plate is a must, if you got any sticking valves that will raise hell with being able to properly pull fuel up through your carb and get to your intakes.

Another thing is in the past 10 years have you pulled and oiled/cleaned the timer, most important and often overlooked
