Had a great deal of problems getting this posted and the ,2nd attempt worked. Now we can talk about it. This intake was made back in the 60's, because the rules said we had to use stock intakes. No Mercs.

The center photo is a 1076 Offy. This is an upgrade on the Edelbrock super dual, and is one of the best intakes for track use. Here we modified it to run 2Gc carbs; The delbrock intake was desighed in the late 30's when engines didn't have the displacemrnt of later years. Remember the 4" crank didn't come out till the late 40's and now we have those trokers/ I'm sure Pete will have his say.
Just alittle of the past.

I learned a lot from Smoky.

So you milled out the bottom of the manifold and made a single plane manifold out of it , and then used the foam and fiberglass resin to fill it back in, correct? I noticed a metal strip running diagonally across the base, was that used to separate the intake port into two halves or is it just for support of the fiberglass?

Yes, to supportthe Fiber glass. At the time I had little experience with the FG. I showed it to a friend that had build a boat with the stueff, and he suggested it. Ran the intake for about 3 years..
