Ferrule
Removed the fuel line from my Zenith and noticed the brass ferrule was even with the end of the fuel line. What is the secret putting on another ferrule 1/8th inch from the end and compressing it sufficiently to stay in place? Thanks

Re: Ferrule
cut the line off and add a new ferril 1/8" from the end. Probably dont have enough fuel line left to do that so order a new line...

Re: Ferrule
Position the ferrel where you want it. Carefully insert the line and snug it down. Take the line back out and make sure it is positioned where you want it. Then put it back in and tighten it up. The ferrel will compress around the line.

Re: Ferrule
It won't hurt anything if the ferrel is even with the end of the line as long as it is on there tight and it doesn't leak.

Re: Ferrule
If you put a new ferrule, make sure it squeezes the line, like a wedding ring, on a FAT Mans' FINGER!

Re: Ferrule
The ferrule can be removed by carefully splitting it with a Dremil tool, being careful not to cut into the line. To set the new ferrule obtain a bolt with the same threads as the filter screen that is long enough to screw into the top casting past where the line comes in. Slip the ferrule onto the line and set it in the port and push the end of the line up against the bolt and tighten the line fitting. This will set the ferrule. Remove the bolt. This will position the end of the line back from the filter screen an appropriate distance. If you prefer more clearance grind off some material from the end of the line.

Re: Ferrule
Yea thats the proper way so there is absolutely no chance it can slide off.

Re: Ferrule
A TIP: When installing a new ferrule, tighten until it feels "tight". Then, with a tubing wrench, facing straight forward, push down with a straight arm, until you feel it "give" some more! A little Vaseline or light grease on the ferrule & the seat helps it "squeeze" into the tube easier.
I once did one & the line came out, while driving!! ! I "fabricated" a ferrule, with STRING & drove home. Bill Wrench
