Re: Modern shocks on a 35 Ford
i used the pete and jakes kit, it bolted on without any fuss, I liked it because the top of the shock is supported in double shear whereas other kits seem to mount them in single shear.

Yes I use the same on my 35 pickup along with the weld on rear mounts, if you use their anti swaybar as well you will turn your car into a new one! ; )

You can also use the Bob Drake kit for the front and rear.

Re: Modern shocks on a 35 Ford
the bolt/stud going through the bottom of the shock on the last pic makes it look like its sitting at an angle. I cant see how this bolt/stud can support a shock absorber safely give its only going through a small plate on one side of the shock.

Re: Modern shocks on a 35 Ford
This is an older post that gives some details on an adapter used on the rear of 35-36 Fords. This is what's on a '35 3w coupe that I own. Unfortunately some of the Photo Bucket pictures have been eliminated.

The angle of the shocks isn't ideal but there's stuff in the way of making his mounting the ideal 80-90 degrees. |
