Default A Date With a Racetrack

A popular event near my home is the Sport and Collection 500 Ferrari Contre Le Cancer which, over the years has raised millions of Euros for our local cancer hospital. This year I'm booked onto a partner event which will involve driving my Model A through the French countryside along with about 100 other Vehicles de Collection to the Val de Vienne racetrack. This being France lunch is part of the deal. After lunch we will complete a parade of two laps of the circuit. I can't wait!

Hot laps, I presume. Time to give the old girl her head!

The unseasonably damp weather didn't spoil the a great day out. About 100 cars travelled in convoy along departmental roads to the Val de Vienne racetrack with excellent marshalling by a local motorcycle club. We then did two and a half laps of the circuit. However much I love my Model A it is not a good car for a tight European racetrack but it was an experience that I am pleased to have had. I talked to another participant who, even here in rural France, spoke about the Model A that his father had owned before WW2 that he himself had inherited. He sold it and bought a Model T, something he regretted as in retrospect he much preferred the A. He now drives a Panhard Levassor. My car did 110 miles yesterday, a high for me.
