Default 1939 Deluxe Ford headlight buckets

Hi Guys, I'am restoring my 1939 sedan that I've owned since 1962. My question is, what is the correct color for the inside of the bucket, gray, silver??? Can't tell from the old black and white photos. If anyone knows I would sure appreciate a shout back. Thanks Richard

Silver helps with light reflection.

This seems to be right, but from everything I've read, white works better.

The head light 'bucket' is painted black.
The 'reflector' portion of the bucket should be silver/chrome finished.

51MERC has this correct. Buckets were painted in full gloss black. Reflectors were silver plated.

The question was about the inside of the bucket, not the outside, nor about the reflector. Come on, guys!

The inside "portion" of the bucket below the "head light reflector" is what is being referred to. The rest of the 'bucket' is black.

Dave, You are correct of course. The inside was quite a bright shade of silver paint. I can't find a good photo to post here.

Hey, Thanks Guys. I was thinking it might be silver on the inside of the bucket, but was not quite sure. Now I know and silver they will be. Again thinks....
