Double venturi caburetor.
Does anyone know why Ford dropped the double venturi and went for the single? I have been told that it was due to threatened court action from another carb manufacturer(Stromberg maybe?) for stealing their design.
Also, is there any information on the performance differences between the two venturi types? Last edited by Betterlifenz; 10-30-2022 at 01:20 AM. Reason: spelling |

Re: Double venturi caburetor.
I thought I read somewhere that it was a patent infringement, but I don't recall the actual place that I read it.
I believe Stromberg sued and Won and that was the beginning of Ford using Strombergs on all the V8 Flatheads and the end of Ford using Zenith’s. The more I think about it I bought a book that tells all about it from one of the Model A vendors. I think the fines were so large Zenith basically agreed to sellout to Stromberg in America. I haven’t read that book in 7 or 8 years. Since I moved 4 years ago I think the book is packed away still. I probably bought it from Snyder’s.

I think if you go to this web address you can actually download some of the reading or talks about the single and dual Venturi carburetor Patent infringement.

Thanks for that, but I'm sorry your attachment is too small to read. Can you please give me the links?

Re: Double venturi caburetor.
Sorry if this hijacks the thread, but is there any difference in value between a dual and single venturi carb?
