Default Truck Tool Box/Trunk - source

Does anyone know where I could source one of these boxes, or similar? I see them in many trucks, but can't seem to find one. Are they an old passenger truck, or available new somewhere? Don't like the diamond plate look in the back of a vintage truck. Thanks for any help.

Yes, that a trunk made to go on the back rack of mostly nickle era cars. Some aftermarket, and some on the bigger cars stock from the factory. I'm not aware of any new ones today, but I haven't looked either ! I would guess ebay, or swap meets is the source today

I have a genuine old Army foot locker in the back of my 35 PU. Manufactured in 1938 with a tag showing it was made by/for the ordinance dept. I had a black canvas cover made for it. I{ love it. It is strapped down, using eye bolts screwed into original bolt holes.

I have bought several antique auto trunks from eBay ads. However, I also do not like the look of a diamond-plate tollbox in a vintage pickup. Therefore I bought a smooth black toolbox from Northern. I'm not sure if they still stock this version but it is the best for security and convenience, not to mention appearance in an early pickup.

Nice trunk but a Hellofa price tag - my buddy bought one at a swap meet for $40 or $60.

My wife and I have bought numerous trunks from garage/yard/flea market sales. Some for as little as $2. One would probably need to be protected from the weather if you use your truck a lot......Mark
