windshield height roadster vs. deluxe
Where/how do you measure the windshield height of a 31 roadster to help determine if it’s a deluxe or not?

Speedway has the measurements, be sure not to pick a chopped one.

Re: windshield height roadster vs. deluxe
According to Snyder's web site a standard windshield is 15 1/4" tall at the ends
and a DeLuxe is 13 1/2" |

Re: windshield height roadster vs. deluxe
Couple of pictures of a Deluxe windshield. The top and bows are much different between a standard and deluxe, top bows on a standard are black painted steel similar to 28 29 while the 30 31 deluxe are chrome and tan ,as mentioned deluxe are lower ,material on deluxe is a tan canvas , standard had a black grain.

Nice to see a Standard, seems every one restores them as Deluxe, possibly including mine.

Re: windshield height roadster vs. deluxe
Do standards have painted windshield frames, and deluxes have stainless frames?
And what about the stanchions? Are all stanchions stainless, or are standards painted? I know there are many generations of reproductions out there now that were produced in both stainless and painted steel, but what was original? W. Michael |

Re: windshield height roadster vs. deluxe
Hello, if I remember correctly the standard has a painted frame but the stancions are stainless on both. Also both had windwings but of different size ,longer on standard to accommodate the higher windshield. I am not home so I can’t check the judging book. If I am wrong hopefully someone will correct me.

Re: windshield height roadster vs. deluxe
Only speaking for Canadian built standards, which I think were more common than US built ones. Mine has a painted windshield frame, stainless stanchions, maroon paint (available on Canadian built standards) and of course Robertson screws in most locations. No wind wings on mine but the holes are there to accommodate them.
