Some old memories
In the mid 70's I fixed up an old 29 roadster pickup. Not exactly stock. Used a "B" block, "C" crank and a Cook overhead 4 port head. Two downdraft Winfields carbs on the left side of engine. Jackson Kong gave me a prototype ignition. He only made that one.
Wes Cooper helped me put the engine together. He had been building bangers since he was in High School in the 30's. He was partial to Crager heads and had never worked on a Cook. It ran like a top. So in 1975 a club was started in Burbank Glendale area of So Cal. It was called Super Fours. I just today found an old sticker So in 1976 we decided to do a road trip so we headed to Las Vegas to visit Ed Winfield. Kong and Cooper knew him pretty well. We called it Winfield Weekend. Here is the carb side of car And here is Kong Jackson (left) explaining to Ed Winfield how his new ignition worked. I am on the right just happy to be in the presents of those two. Not a banger guy anymore. Sold it all in 1980 when we moved to Nor Cal. I am now working in a High Boy roadster with a flathead. Wishing I had that old Cook "B" motor instead. Tim |

Re: Some old memories
Hey Tim, talk about memories. I was in Crescent City, CA about a year ago, and as I walked into a parking lot there was a '32 Ford 3 window completely original. What a story that car could tell.

Re: Some old memories
Wow wished I could have listened to the conversation between Ed Winfield and Kong Jackson. What a once in a lifetime event to be a part of. Good for you Tim.
