Can anyone help identify the difference between these 2 brake cross shafts?

Just a guess but I would say the top one is an early version.

Guessing, I think the lower one is for use with the 4-speed transmission.

I have a AA 4 Speed in my '28 Roadster Pick up.
I didn't know they made a special brake shaft just for the 4 speeds. I try to get a photo of mine tomorrow when it's daylight and post it here.
