Default 1960 pickup

A friend is restoring a half ton P/U . It has chrome grill. Should the bumpers be chrome or painted?

Chrome front and rear bumpers were an option. (from the "Ford Pickup Red Book")

I think a chrome grille was an option as well. Anyway it'll look better with chrome bumpers.

I never heard of the red book. I will advise him of that. He wants to keep it all original. It was his grandpas truck, in the family from day one. Thx for all responses. RAY

Chrome bumpers were not done on the F1s they were all painted. The grille would not have been chromed but instead there were stainless strips that bolted to the grille bars.

EDIT: For some reason I read 1950 pickup instead of 1960 pickup when I saw this thread.

I haven't got any photos of 1960 Ford F100's, but have a 1957, 1958 & 1959, all with chrome Grille & Bumpers. They look great.

The '57-60 F series custom cab trucks trucks all came with chrome grilles and front bumpers. From time to time you will find them without the chrome front bumper, they were changed for one reason or another..
Starting with '57 F100's and reaching it peak with the '59-60's, Ford went nuts with the accessories that they offered for the F series trucks.
I've had a love affair with the '59's since '59, the company I worked for gave me a new one in '59.. Well equipped Custom Cab V8.. Drove the truck until '63 when they gave me a new '63 Chevy.. This prompted me to buy my dads '59 F100 Custom Cab.
I have owned many '59's since that time, currently have three '59 F100 4x's..
