Default Removing gas tank in 1931 mailtruck

I am having trouble removing the gas tank from a Model A Mailtruck. Does anyone have any information that might explain this problem. I have it loose but cannot get it to move forward or backward enough to clear the gas line connection. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A year to the day and it still won't come out.

Thumbs up Re: Removing gas tank in 1931 mailtruck

The gas tank is now out, so is the cowl which had to be removed as well. I do not think Henry ever thought the tank on a mail truck would spring a leak.

I was thinking of explosives but thought I would try the cowl removal first and it worked. Also discovered that someone else had a similar problem and patched it in place with some fiberglass.

Hopefully I can find someone that can weld a patch in and coat the interior and then back to delivering mail before the Christmas rush.

Sounds like you need another tank, it is really hard to get them clean without
taking them apart.

I agree but am not aware of anyone who sells new tanks. Do you know of anyone?

Nobody makes a new one, just need a better used one.

Send the tank to Brent Terry in Tennessee. He can make it new again
