Welcome, nice car. I'd be inclined to just drive it. A car with worry free paint is something to behold.

Welcome to the Barn! And where did you find space on Okinawa to store those cars?

Re: hello, I am new to the Forum
it is locked up at a friends house right now but he is deployed he will be back this week so next weekend I can start checking numbers , compression, brakes steering ,tire and anything else before I try to start it. it has been stored in a covered area for 17 years is what I was told and with the weather here I am sure it was otherwise it would be a pile of rust. I was told the compression was 45 on all cylinders and that was hand cranking it over with no lube and it setting for that long.

Re: hello, I am new to the Forum
Welcome Aboard. We will assist in any way we can. Very familiar with Kadena, flying in and out of there many times during "Nam" I remember those crazy taxi rides to Na Ha City. A 500 mile NASCAR race is tame to those taxi rides for 25 cents...

Re: hello, I am new to the Forum
Model A's sold new in Japan were US sourced but RHD.
There was a new assembly plant built in 1928 at Yokohama. Given that US Forces have been on Okinawa since the end of the War, your car could have easily come from somewhere else. Good luck with it. |

Re: hello, I am new to the Forum
the person that last had it registered was 17years ago in Tokyo, it has never been on the road since it was brought to Okinawa. I cant find any numbers on the seat pan area or on the firewall/ fuel tank area
for dates or plant info. |

Re: hello, I am new to the Forum
Coming home from 'Nam, a good friend was trying to smuggle home an AK. He got it into Okinawa, didn't know how to get it home from there so he wrapped it up in cosmoline and a sealed plastic bag and buried it in the 'hills'.
We always laughed about him making a trip back there to try to retrieve it |
