Default running board trim

Can someone tell me what will clean the outer edge of the running board trim on a '30 coupe? I tried simichrome and it helped a bit but not much. I know that the trim will be some what dull, but anything will look better than it does now. Thanks.

I used white viniger to clean mine...BUT, mine were the 28-29 styles zinc strips and cound put all 8 peices in a PVC tube and let them soke for a few days then clean with water and shine with 3-M cloth.

The 30-31 trim material, if original, is also zinc...just how you could take them apart to clean I do not know that 1/2 of the question.

If they are zinc just sand them with sand paper or a scotch bright pad or something like that

If it is made of Zinc, can't you just buff it out? Put one of those buffing wheel attachments on an electric drill? I have never done a running board trim but have buffed out zinc Motorcycle parts,
