The 1940 Ford Yosemite green is a very dark green color - much darker than Acadia green. aqs=chrome.0.69i59j69i60j0j69i57j69i60j0.9132j0j7& sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8&hl=en-US#imgrc=2C_C_prQDQuMCM

I'll take your word for it. I guess they have to be seen in person. To my eyes, the 39 Merc (yosemite) Is much lighter than your Acadia green truck, or the photoshopped fenders on the 40 standard coupe. When I go to RockFla,s albums and find 3 different pictures of his 39 Mercury. Each shot is showing a different shade, ranging from very dark, like you say, to the medium green colored car he posted on this thread as an example.

My apologies I tried to send a paint chip chart. Hopefully the attached paint chip chart will come thru. http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/chipdisp...940&manuf=Ford

Looking at the 39 paint chart I think that the paint color on the 39 Merc is Tropical Green.

It looks to be in between Cloud Mist Gray and Acadia Green.

No Expavr, the paint on the Merc (Body) is orginal, the fenders we believe have been repainted. It is original Cloud Mist car!!!

Depending on the light these green colors can fool the eye. Your response makes sense and visually clarifies the differences between all three from light (Cloud Mist Gray to dark (Dartmouth/Yosemite Green).

Light, temperature at the time of spraying, humidity, type of gun, paint mixing machine, and 78 years of sun and weather. They all effect the chroma of the color. Plus the eye of the beholder too.

The DeLuxe models were available in Black, Lyon Blue, Folkstone Gray, Mandarin Maroon, Cloud Mist Gray and Yosemite Green through the entire production. In April, 1940 a “Spring Color”, Garnet Maroon, became available for the DeLuxe models. Wheels were painted to match body color on all DeLuxe models

The Ford V8 (aka "Standard") models were available in Black, Lyon Blue and Cloud Mist Gray through the entire production. Wheels were painted black on all Ford V8 models. However, as an extra cost option, the wheels could have been painted Lyon Blue or Cloud Mist Gray, to match the body color.
DeLuxe colors, with the exception of Garnet Maroon were available on the Ford V8 models as an extra cost option.

Beginning May 1, 1940 two special color combinations were being furnished. It appears these combinations were available on both the DeLuxe models as well as the Ford V8 models. Introduced at this time was an additional paint color, Acadia Green, offered only as part of a combination. Combinations offered were:
Folkestone Gray body with Black fender and grille sides.
Folkestone Gray body with Mandarin Maroon fenders and grille sides.
Mandarin Maroon body with Folkestone Gray fenders and grille sides.
Cloud Mist Gray body with Acadia Green fenders and grille sides.

But I do like very subtle contrast on the two tone fat fendered cars. Let's say black/ dark blue. I would like to see the contrast of the cloud mist grey/ acadia applied on a 40, they are both a darker color, I believe.
Here is the rag top to which I was referring. Does anyone agree with my assessment?
