Default Removal of Tillotson Throttle Shaft

Group,

I'm rebuilding my Tillotson XF carb. After I remove the throttle plate, does the shaft just push out ? The choke shaft came out easy, but the throttle shaft is not moving with a simple "push". Should I use a penetrating oil on the bushings ?

Also, the plate that connects to the throttle shaft is a little loose. It looks like it was peened over to hold it on the shaft. Can it be tightened by peening more ?

Marc

Just twist and pull te shafts they will come out, AFTER the plates are removed.
The plate are held by small brass screws. When the screws were installed they were peed to lock them in place. When you put them back in, screw them in tight and lock them in place with a tread locker, like Locktite.

Just got the shaft out. Liquid Wrench and using a punch with gentle blows and twisting worked.

The shaft and the bushing then received some extra fine sandpaper to help make the shaft turn better.

Its a good fit now, but the Tillotson carb sure is a low cost design !
