Default Crank case breather spits up oil

The oil breather was spitting up drops of oil at high idle, which land on the coolant tube and side of the motor. Never noticed this before. Now I know why the motor is always coated in oil in places I would not expect it to leak.

This can be due to the fact that blow-by gases between the piston and cylinder are increased due to wear.

Or maybe motor oil that has become considerably too thin?

you may already know this.?

make sure the tube has the fins inside it and that it is not just a straight through tube.
and
make sure it is not partially plugged with sludge and obstructing crankcase pleasure from freely escaping.

Many cars are fitted with an aftermarket tube that leads to under the car. This allows any oil that bypasses the fins inside to go out on the road and not on the engine. I don't see the tube advertised on Snyders so maybe it is a swap meet item.

Make sure the cap isn't pushed down to far and the cap is free of foreign objects! Some people put socks over the cap and tube.

Is the cap on too tight? Do you have too much oil? Do you have anything in the tube like steel wool that is not allowing the crank case to breathe?

And...as Big hammer said, put a sock on it! Change as needed.

How high do you keep the oil level
If you look in the service bulletins there were changes in the baffles to reduce oil escaping--- look to see what version you have
I overfilled my smiths compresser (oil level on the "f" instead of under it), I watched it spray oil till the level got below the F

Index the breather pipe so its baffles stop the oil:

To add to what Kurt wrote, Ford redesigned the breather pipe a few times over the years to 'cure' the problem of oil coming out of the breather tube. see the Service Bulletins pages 358 & 454.

This a post Model A production motor (1936 diamond block) so it should have been equipped with the redesigned breather. I will check the orientation of baffles.

As it was a replacement block, all of the "accessories" off the original block may have been used.

I have heard people say take the tube and cap out, and get one for a Model B. I have no idea if that works even a little bit.
