Re: Fan belt
IDK. It depends on which generator/alternator you are running, but the size IS important. If it is too small you will have a h*ll of a time getting it on. If too long the generator/alternator pulley will rub against the lower radiator hose when you tighten it up.
If you are running a stock generator I would get one from one of the model A parts vendors. They will have the correct size. In my case I have one of those Powermaster alternators that look like a stock generator. This belt was the correct size for me. |

Re: Fan belt
Running stock generator it is 43 inches long and 5/8 outside width. All venders have them. Hope this gives you a starting place to find one.

Re: Fan belt
Check with Rockauto; they have 3 types listed with specs, all notched, that supposedly run cooler (and may be easier to install under crank pulley). We use a Gates TR22425 w/ an alternator.

Re: Fan belt
Once the correct belt is found It is much easier to remove the generator pulley for ease of removal and replacement of the belt . Remove the pulley bolt and find a slightly longer bolt. Install the longer bolt so that it bottoms in the armature, this will protect the threads . While holding outward tension on the pulley, lightly tap on the bolt and the pulley will release from the taper of the armature shaft .

Re: Fan belt
If you go to Napa, ask for .604 to .63" width; outside circum. 42.59 to 42.9" similar to post 3..
Cogged (notched) type may be easier to get under crank pulley. |

Re: Fan belt
This NAPA belts slides on the alternator pulley without the need to remove the pulley.

Re: Fan belt
The 'B' belt is an industrial drive belt, not as hard as an automotive spec..they grip better and you dont have to run them as tight..save your water pump..
