Question Okay... Green fuel??

So I'm getting my 49 prepped to start her up, i check fluid levels, charge battery and so on. Plus i check the fuel pump bowl, it looks completely fine, still full of good looking gas. So i start her up and everything is running fine. After a little bit of letting her get warm and move about, i turn her off, and look at the pump bowl... and my gas in there is green. like an algae green. What do you think caused this? most likely very bad gas in my opinion. But i want to hear your thoughts.

Do you have a copper fuel line from the gas tank to the engine compartment? The copper might have gotten moisture in it and oxidized while sitting and after using up the fuel in the bowl the gas flowing through the line might have pulled the surface oxidation through to the bowl. Disconnect the carb and run the fuel pump for 5 or 10 minutes and i'll bet it cleans out.
Just a WAG

Just a couple thoughts.
1. Stabilizer or some additive put in the fuel.
2. Deteriorating rubber fuel line.

Hi all; My engine stand w/ an aluminum tank, had the modern fuel turn green with alge. About a year with no stabilizer, early jet fuel would also do this. The alcohol and water will grow microbes. Newc

If it runs do not worry about it. Run it till you need fuel and fill it with fresh fuel. My opinion do not try to fix unless broken.

I have never seen green gasoline. Odd. Let us know if you find the cause.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to clean out the tank and lines and install fresh fuel before attempting to start a car that has been setting?

Fresh fuel and installing a filter in front of the carb inlet and you might save some time and dollars.

This article may define the cause.

A drain, flush and refill may be in order. Be sure to use a stabilizer.
