fuel pump stand swap
building an 8BA for my '4o sedan. I am planning on running an Offenhauser Superdual 2 Deuce intake. The front oil filler tube hole is presently plugged. Can you swap out an earlier fuel pump stand for the 8BA stand and if so, what is needed or the consequences?

Re: fuel pump stand swap
The height of the fuel pump stand must be compatible with the stock fuel pump push rod so you get enough "travel" to actuate the fuel pump. Do you have a stock 8BA intake you could use for measurements?

Re: fuel pump stand swap
There is a considerable difference in the length of fuel pump pushrods. And there is a difference between iron intake and aluminum intake manifold heights, as well. If you have the C&G catalog, or see it online, look at page 127 for a list of rods and lengths.

Re: fuel pump stand swap
I have been looking for the same information for a future build and from reading posts here and on the H.A.M.B., this is the info I have burgled.
You can use the 59A fuel pump and early stand on the 8BA if you use the appropriate early rod. If you measure the length from the stand mounting area on the intake to the top of the block it will be either just over 1” which should take the short rod or just over 2” which should use the long rod. Also, the early rod is smaller in diameter than the 8BA rod so you will need to address the fuel pump push rod bushing in the block. Supposedly the early bushing will fit inside the 8BA bushing. Align the oil holes. All that said, I have not yet attempted to put this together myself so use caution and double check measurements if you try it. Others please join in and correct me if I made any errors. Last edited by HambBurglar; 03-05-2020 at 01:16 PM. Reason: Clarity |
