Thanks Dodge!! I may take you up on your offer for a squirt! lol. I had about that much left in my tube when I loaned it out and it was never returned. It lasted me 40+ years stored in an airtight fish hook container. Thanks again for your help, at my age I don't need another tube. Michael

Bill - you always hit the nail hard, dead-center, on the head! lol. My dear old Dad taught me to use the Delco cam lube exactly as you described. He said it worked at high temp. and stayed right where you put it (points pad). Gosh, I miss him, his cars always ran like a new car off the show room floor. Like you and the gang on here, you know all the tricks to these amazing American icons. I wish someone (collaborative effort) would right a "tricks" book!

I'm off to find a strand or two on a favorite topic of mine which is the rebuilding of my stock engine. I have come to the conclusion that I will tear it down and do it myself. It's hilarious that Ive built and maintained several 700-900 hp drag race motors, but terrorised of a 40hp Ford motor. lol. We have a guy in our club that can test it for cracks, then I'm off and running. lol. Besides, I can get it done in 3-4 years in time for my son to take over the maintenance. lol

At one time anyway Standard Ignition was the best manufacturer of quality ignition parts. More than likely GM contracted with them to supply their lube under the GM label

Chief, my Dad, taught me a lot of "tricks" that he learned from others & by success & failures. Like, pay attention to even TINY details, they're usually the things that cause it to go, "PHHHHHT" & DIE! Be inquisitive & NOSEY, like be SURE you've crimped a wire terminal SECURELY, ETC.
Most of all, he taught me NOT to PATCH UP stuff, or 90% of the time, it'll come back to HAUNT you He said PATCHIN' is only to get you home for SUPPER, if you happen to conk out. YES, he had a whole library of PATCHIN' TECHNIQUES, also!

That just seems like too much to pay.
For that price, just buy a new motor complete with dizzy & lube!

Keep in mind A'ers where the distributor makes it's home - in the head where it see's tremendous heat. That was the beauty of the Delco lube - heat didn't bother it! It is also probably the best ever created for O-rings. I was telling my friend about trying to find some delco and at 80 yrs young he just smiled and didn't offer to sell me a squirt from his tube. lol

I'm with you. Have used "Super Lube" synthetic grease for years. Good to 450 degrees.

This morning I drove down the end of my street to "Delcoline Auto Parts" here in Essex, MD. I showed the guy the U1901 part number and told him what it was. He said "Oh Boy". Then he got on his computer and said "Here it is". He asked me how many I wanted and I asked him the price. He said $5.46 net. i said that I wanted two. He said that he would have them by 2:00 P.M. They come in a Red,White, and Blue box marked ACD#U1901, GM# 12338672. My total cost including tax was $11.58. I'm 73 years old so now I have a lifetime supply. He said that they have 11 stores in Maryland and Virginia. I am not affiliated with AC Delco in any way, just trying to be helpful.

Merry Christmas,
Ronald M. Wetzel.
