Default cowl patch

I have a 31 coupe and the bottom of the cowl is basically nonexistent so I have nothing to go by. I have a patch panel and the bead along the bottom ( from A pillar to firewall ) is straight. This is the hard part, trying to explain what I would like to know. Here goes; if you get your eye down and site along the upper bead across the door and across the cowl to the firewall, as you get to the cowl the bead curves slightly in towards the motor and then part way along it bends slightly out towards the tire. Should the bead at the bottom of the cowl (patch panel) follow the same slight curves or is the bead straight from the A pillar to the firewall? Thank you.
