Trunk hinge question?
I am putting a new skin on my trunk lid and need to reattach the little bracket that goes on the inside of the lid that the hinge bolt goes through. I know the front hole is for the hinge, the middle hole was riveted to the inner and outer, but what was in the back hole? Was it a large screw?
Thanks |

Re: Trunk hinge question?
Yes thanks Criag for the pictures. I am "fighting" the same problem-what to do with my trunk hinges. The kit you show in the second picture, is it the one the vendors show as the 22 piece set?

The first picture you posted is of my 28 special coupe I posted about 3 years ago on Fordbarn. I used all original hinge parts I collected for a couple years. The ones venders sell are not quite right. There is one part for the trunk lid and two pieces, one inside the body (a thin metal piece) and the forging used on rain gutter side. If I remember correctly the body mounting screws are four 10-32's with lock washers and nuts, but I am not 100% sure. Rusty Nelson |

Re: Trunk hinge question?
Rusty, do you happend to have some more pictures of the way these hinge parts are suppose to go together? Like the inside one you mentioned. Does it also have a bolt through it? Thanks for anything you may have.

Re: Trunk hinge question?
Fred,
I will check tomorrow and see what I have. I am not sure that 28/29 trunk brackets are the same as 30/31 brackets. It appears you have a 29 coupe, so it would be the same as what I have. I might have some loose hinge parts left. If I do, I will take some pictures of the hinge pieces. It has been while since I installed the trunk lid and I can't remember exactly what was used. I think I might have some pictures of the original hinge parts. If you would send me your email address, it would be easier for me to attach any pictures I have than post them here. My email address is: [email protected]. Rusty Nelson |
