Would have to see it to figure it out. Pictures may help.

You may not have the right ones.
39 Deluxe is a one year headlight.
37-38-39 standard are the same.

There should be a small tin clip with a tab attached to the top of the horn bucket. The ring is hooked on it, pressed into the sides of the bucket tabs and held down at the bottom. The top clip and bottom fastener should not allow the ring to fall off. Do you have the top clip?

Send them back and buy good original Genuine Ford ones, not a rare part that you would have needed to buy a reproduction. Even if you have to have a pair bumped out and buff they would be better than Vintiques. Good correct ones are a staple at about any swap meet or Ebay.

Listen to 37coupe. He speaks from experience. The repops are poopy. And, if these are the typical Vintique "quality" they are total poopy.

The real Henry stuff is not hard to find and if installed correctly won't fall off! In fact just the opposite happens...

Agree with the rest above, but if you want to use them you can make them work. There really is only 2 mounting points the top and the bottom. The side points seem to be for alignment only. On the top piece, you can add washers between the housing at the mount to bring it out more, ultimately the ring will finally grab. Not pretty, because it pulls the entire trim ring away from the housing creating a gap, but it will work.
