Default Problems "A" New Owner May Encounter

My Master Cylinder is missing.
My Fuel Pump has disappeared.
The blinkers are not working, I think parts are missing
The Four Way Flashers are non-existent.
All the seat belts are lost.
The climate control system is either broken or hard to figure out...no knobs
The gauges and idiot lights are all missing except the gas gauge.
I only have one brake light

Horn makes a funny sound, like a duck that’s been goosed.
No door lock installed on driver’s side.
Radiator shell has a big hole at bottom center (looks like someone tried to cover it up with a loose piece of metal).
Can’t adjust the front seats.
Ignition key cylinder pops out when I turn it on, and does not turn off unless I push it in.
Dash light doesn’t show anything.
The turn signal lever on the left side under the steering wheel slips up and down but no lights blink.
A lot of rattles.
I don’t think the shock absorbers work.

Why won't it crank when I turn the key?

What's the extra lever on the floor?

Why does the heater only work when it's hot outside?

Why can't I unlock the driver door?

How do you turn on the headlights?

One of my wipers is missing!

Why do I smell gas?

If you think the younger generations are smarter than you, think about this.

In the owners manual for a Model"A", there are instructions on how to adjust the valves.
In todays owners manual, it warns not to drink the battery acid.

I should have lernt to read, J

Where's the starter?
What happened to the power steering?
Where's "D" for Drive?
But I can pick out my car in the shopping centre car park.

Why does the starter button on the floor engage when the ignition key is off?

Why do I keep running out of gas a few seconds after the engine starts?

What’s this twisty turny lever thingy under the center of the dash?

Apparently, the previous owner removed the Tire Pressure Monitoring system.

My windshield wiper usually works fine until I go up a hill. Then, it stops. When I let up on the gas, it starts again. What’s up with that?

All the grease fittings are bad. My grease gun will not connect to any of them.

I can’t find the oil filter.

It looks like I have an extra brake pedal.

The previous owner replaced the floor pans with wood boards.

The engine is definitely not a Hemi.

The cruise control lever on the right of the steering wheel loses speed on hills.

Why is the battery hooked up backwards? The previous owner connected the *positive* terminal to the frame!

6 of my volts are missing.

I checked for the ECM under the seat, but it has been removed too.

The power door locks are gone.

The power windows are gone too.

Obviously, someone stripped this car.

None of this showed up in the pictures I saw on the internet prior to purchasing this car.

I wonder if any of this is covered under warranty.

My Model A

You are my Model A (You are my Sunshine)
My only Model A
You take me places I'd love to stay
You never fail me or go astray
Please don't take away my A.

When you boil over, you need a drink
I have to fill you to the brink
You make a mess I have to clean
Please don't make a lot of Steam.

When your water pump leaks
you make a mess
I have to clean your hood and all the rest
It is no fun at all to breathe that mist
and stop to give, the nut a twist.

My Model A, My Model A
When you make wrong turns
you go astray
You leave me here, to find my home
I'll have to learn to drive alone.

If it ain't leak-en, It needs some fill-en
The oil goes in then, it drips back out
It is not hard to, follow you
Along the roadway, you leave some Goo.

Model A's in Heaven (If Heaven ain't a lot like Dixie)

If they don't have A's in Heaven
I don't want to go
If they don't have A's in Heaven
I just as soon stay home.
If they don't have a Model A Round-up
Like they do in Old Oakleaf
Send me to Hell or New York City,
It'll be the same to me'

If they don't have Ahooga horns
That make that beautiful sound
If they don't have cackling engines,
I just as soon stick around.
If they don't have A's in Heaven
Like we have right here today
Let me stay and drive around and enjoy this beautiful day.

Be glad you didn't buy a Model T, water pump, oil pump, dip stick, fuel pump, automatic choke, battery, alternator and starter are all missing. Head lights are there but won't 'light-up', windows won't even roll up!

Lol. Seriously, a Model T doesn’t have a dipstick? How do you know if the engine has sufficient oil?

I have never driven a T, but wonder why anyone would own one. They are a lot of work just to drive. My club had a training session that taught the ladies how to start and drive the A. My wife told me afterwards "that car is a lot of work to drive". Then when you think about the T multiply that.

They were great cars in the day though. They really were the first little, and affordable car that worked.
