Post How do I figure out the value of a 1931 Model A 4 door Sedan

Hi,

I have just joined yesterday and I need help for my grandfather. He owns a 1931 Model A 4 door Sedan. He is looking to sell it and I want to help him. The problem is I don't know how to price this car appropriately. Can someone give me some advice?

Not knowing what area you live in we cannot make any recommendations for specific Fordbarners or local club members. Contacting a local MAFCA, Model A Ford Club of America, or MARC, Model A Restores Club, chapter and ask the club president if there is someone who could help out determine a fair market value. Looking on e-bay for similar cars. Remember the condition of the car and the desirability of the body style are important. If you can post some photos and provide an accurate description will help.

In addition to pictures, ask your grandfather if he can provide a detailed description of the car, what has been done to it, and overall what condition it is in. It would be much better to have someone knowledgeable in your area come by and check it out; there is likely a local Model A club no too far away that could be of help.

The way I did it when I was appraising was to find 4, 6, 8 comparable cars and average the prices. It was usually a good indicator of the Market value. Old Autos Mag, Hemmings, Auto Trader. Some Auction prices. it should give you a feel for the price.

Go right to ebay and price it against sold cars-only you know the condition, we don't
this will give you realistic pricing at todays market.
