1934 Brake Light Switch
The brake light switch on my 34 works intermittently does anyone know where I can find an NOS one or can they be taken apart, repaired and cleaned any suggestions would be appreciated?

Re: 1934 Brake Light Switch
If it is an original or one of the quality replacements of the day (likely from the original supplier to Ford), it can be readily disassembled and cleaned. If the operating rod does not have brass bushing on either end of the housing, seek one that does, as those without bushings are poor replacements.

Re: 1934 Brake Light Switch
I see them occasionally on E-Bay. I took mine apart and cleaned it. As I recall there are 4 little metal tabs which hold the two halves of the body together. Try not to unbend and bend them too many times because they can break off easily.

Re: 1934 Brake Light Switch
Well I replaced my brake light switch with an NOS one which has the brass bushing on each end of the housing and guess what it works then it doesn't work. So I was thinking last night when I was kind of a sleep and my question is does the brake light switch actually ground to the brake and clutch assemble? Then if it does I'm thinking that I have too much paint between the brake light switch and brake and clutch assemble and I'm not making ground? I'm I correct and do I need to sand off some paint so that I have a good ground?

Re: 1934 Brake Light Switch
The grounding occurs through the bolts that attach the switch to the chassis frame.

Re: 1934 Brake Light Switch
It has two terminals one from the battery and one to the tail lights .as has been said The grounding of the case does not play a part in its function ,Ted
