Default 40 pickup front clip on a 46 ford pickup

I have most of the parts for a 40 ford pickup front clip and I would like to put it on my 46 ford pickup. Has anyone done this? What problems am I going to have? Thanks, 45yellowford

I'm sure it can be done, but 35-41 truck (to 40 with cars) frames are quite a bit different than the 42-through F1 series of pickup frames.

Rcab sits too high for one thing. Most that have been done look horrible. The only one I have seen on the stock 42-47 frame that looked OK the cab had been channeled about 6" and had a mustang II front end. But then there is the running board issue to custom fit

If you want it to look right change the cab over to the 35-40 frame like mentioned above but there are a few little things that still need adjusted to work

Why not locate a 46-47 front clip? I love the jail bar pickups and they just don't get the attention they deserve.

Thanks for the info. You convinced me not to try the change.

I now have a 41 Ford Pickup front clip for sale. I will take it to the next swap meet unless someone on Ford barn is interested. Freight could be an issue since I live in Idaho.

That's a good looking truck. Doesn't need any changing!
