Default I cant find an On Off switch box online

Since I'm redoing the electrical wires, I want to get the On Off switch on the column working. The fire station had bypassed the switch with another and put it under the dash on the firewall. I can't seem to find a replacement for the box behind the switch online. Is there someone that sales this, and if not, is there an alternative solution?

It looks in the photos that you have the tin box, No? I'm not sure that was ever reproduced. The plastic contact board and the switch contact are available repro, try Fred at SouthSide Obsolete he may have it all NOS

Ken, Your ignition switch may have been bypassed due to an original requirement for engine operation while the steering shaft remained locked. The switch therefore may be fully functional when wired correctly. I'd suggest that you put a meter on it to discover any excessive electrical resistance, in which case the carbon block inside would show wear, which I'm guessing not. Even if it is worn, the carbon block itself be dressed or replaced, saving the original switch body.

It looks like everything you need is present. I’d mark the wires and remove them , then as suggested test the resistance with the switch in both positions. If it doesn’t work its easy to repair or replace the internals .

Do you have the key? Does the lever move back and forth? If yes then just remove the 2 screws from the back and the plastic terminal plate and plastic brush will fall out so you can clean them. There is NO CARBON BLOCK. If the key has the switch locked the repair is much more involved.
