Default Seven tooth steering box bushing removal

How do you remove and replace the steering shaft bushing that is located above the worm gear on a seven tooth gearbox without having to remove the upper steering column bushing?

I have a set of expanding pullers that work with a slide hammer. The appropriate size would go in from the bottom of the housing then be expanded with wrenches for the pull. Screw the slide hammer in and start whacking away at it. The bushing is brass so it may be damaged during removal. If the shaft still fits it with little play then a person can use it without removal. Removing the top bushing can be a bear. I've had to break them out in pieces before.

Thanks for the good information. Looks like I’m going to have to buy another tool.
For removing the upper bushing just below the steering wheel. This is a pretty good YouTube idea.

I have just now tried the bearing puller suggestion, and the bearing did not move at all. Then I tried a long pipe down the length of the steering column, while the bearing puller was still installed, and hammered it with a 3 pound hammer with no results. Anyone have any other suggestions?

How about drilling the bushing to make it thinner, then use a cape chisel to cut the bushing.
