Default Side curtains for 36 woodie

Here is what the side curtains I had made locally here look like. I had them made out of natural canvas figuring that's what they were back in the day. I had to guess how they were constructed. Not planning on driving in the rain anyways! I'm wondering why Lebaron Bonney wanted $2400 for a set(they used convertible top material I suspect which is much more expensive than canvas)! I'm spending about $500 plus materials. Clear section was supposed to be bigger but the worker spoke mostly Spanish. The curtains have brass tracks and are stored in tracks up under the top. Rear curtain is permanently attached at the top and has 18 snaps to hold it. Rear can also be stored under the top. I had to make on of the straight brass tracks myself and luckily had all the curved ones.

Don't know if this photos helps? It shows the inside of a 1936 Ford Woody.

Finally after studying the above picture I've figured out how the 36 curtains were made.
They have a metal piece with the window sandwiched in between. I'll have to scrap my first attempt which I wasn't very excited about anyway! Oh well I'll still be less than 1/3 of the $2700 LB wanted half of which I would have lost!

As shown in Trevor's enlarged photo, all four sides of the original quarter and rear door curtains had steel inserts with those on the sides being of spring steel to permit them to follow the curve transitioning from vertical to horizontal and back again. They are complicated to make which usually translates into expensive.

You are correct. I have ordered some spring steel. I'm getting the top and bottom sides made at a sheet metal shop with the design I posted. The curtain part of it will have 3/4 inch sheet metal strips on the top and bottom and spring steel strips on the sides. The curtain part will then be inserted in the top and bottom.

Here is the top and bottom sheet metal piece I had made. Took a lot of thinking to design that one for me. Curtain will be covered with a little canvas and mostly clear vinyl. The metal piece in the picture will be riveted to the top and bottom. Have to throw away the ones I already had made.
