Default Couldn't Pass It Up

A neighbor called to tell me about a local sale with a Model A. Went to the sale and came home with a 29 Coupe. It had been in a barn since June of 1979. It saw its first sunlight on May 2, 2013. The lighting at the sale was not good and I arrive just before it was to sell, but when I got it home it was even better the I has expected. The gas tank is clean as a whistle, no rust, and the motor is free with no parts missing. I think it will be running tomorrow.
And I was starting to think there were no more of them out there.

And you already have one model a at least?

You bring this home and put it in the same garage as the other one and you know what happens?

Don't say we didn't warn you.

I see it still has a trunk. Not converted to a rumble seat. Good. Gonna drive it the way it is or restore it?

I agree. Keep that trunk. Much more useful.

Very nice find, and my second favorite body style. Post some pix of the engine if you can.

Mike - I put new tires on it today and plan to see about getting the motor running tomorrow. I'm happy when I can find one like this, get it running and cleaned up, and just drive it for a while. I then usually sell it to re-coupe my expenses then move on to something else. I'm not a detail kind of guy that it takes to do a proper restore.

I agree - the trunk is the way to go for a coupe. This trunk was especially nice in that it was full of goodies. Some used parts and Ford wrenches. The best part was a J.C. Whitney order in the original packing, unopened, with some tuneup parts and a moto-meter temp guage. The order was dated 1979 and the package included two Whitney catalogs. It was fun looking at the catalog pricing.
I'll take some more pictures as I get it cleaned up and running.

Did some cleanup work today to get 34 years of crud off and to see a little better what the car looked like. Was generally pleased as I found no body damage or rust. I was disappointed to find that someone along the way has put a sheet metal top on. It is screwed on around the edges and then filled in on the edges with a hard compound of some sort then painted with a heavy sealing type paint. Anyway it will have to come off and fixed with a proper top. The paint appears to be a heavy coat of lacquer that is cracked with age in large part and peeling off in some areas. The pictures have a couple of the engine. Not sure what has been done to the wiring. Different looking cut-out on generator and a box with a fuse in the lighting circuit. Any ideas what this is? The rest looks standard except the ignition switch is a push-pull instead of a key. Will work on the engine tomorrow if weather permits.
