Default Early vs. late

Ordered points without pulling Distributor first, guess mine was an early year after all. Is this a Norse brand rotor?

You will need to take that dist off to do anything with it. Then even with new points, it works best when set up on a dist. machine. There is a shop, I believe on TN ave in Lonsdale, Knoxville that has a machine. You will need to ask around that area.

Those points are 32-36. The rotor is 37-41 or, as Charlie says, late 36-41

Tudie,
Box it up and send it 3RD Gen in McMinnville Tenn...Michael Driskell....
hisself will square you away. It's easy to see how this happened....early '36 used those
points and midyear '36 used that rotor. Michael has the machine/s to spin it up.

Thanks, I actually have the correct points and what looks like the correct rotor on order from Third Gen. They are not too far away. If I knew they did this I probably would have had it back by now, Huh? Oh well, learning as I go has been fun and I’m ready for another one. Anyone trade a couple of Harleys for a 39?

That would be great, do you think it might pay more than my job on the garbage truck, $40.00 a day and all I could eat ??

Just off the phone with Mike @ 3rd. Gen. I do have a mixture of years. He walked me through, had me send pictures to confirm everything, I decided to buy one of his and keep mine for a spare. Great help and company from my experience and thanks again for the recommendation. I may have a leg in the door as an apprentice now.

Well, installed new rebuilt distributor. Started easy and sounded better. Didn’t stumble at top of shifts. Thought everything was great. Took her a little farther down the road a second time and would start loosing power under load. I think I’m good on the electrical side except to change out ignition wire. I believe it’s a venting problem or clogging filter at electric pump. Still doesn’t want to take gas. I blew compressed air into vent tube at filler neck but it’s pouring rain here in East Tennessee. Will take her out when it dries up and see if that did it. If not,I’m going to have to find somebody around Maryville Tn. To have a look see. Thanks again for all advice and commentary.

If all else fails bring it here to McMinnville in a couple weeks.
I appologize as I dont remember, but did you change your condenser. If you are running the adapter plate I use a FD72 Condenser.

Have you checked your primary and secondary resistance of your coil? What part# coil are you using

The condenser was a Napa brand. It was a month old so didn’t change it. I will now. The coil only said 6 volt 505. I put on a O’Reilys to see if it changed. Still stumped. Thanks, I’ll let you know.

Hello, you’re not too far from me, I got it done by Third Gen. Good, and fast work. Thanks
