Default Light/ horn rod

I needed to replace the light rod on my Victoria. I ordered one from one of the Vendors. When I received it, it would not fit in the steering column, it was too big! I called the Vendor to ask if I got the correct one. Their tech said all light rods are too big and need to be “sanded down “ in order to fit in the column. Has anyone else experienced this problem? After 3 hours of hand sanding with emery cloth, I got it to slide down the entire column.

Nothing surprises me about reproduction parts.
