Default 34 Brake pedal "resistance"

Seem to be having some brake pedal problems that started a few days ago and wondered if any one has had the same problem and/or has a solution .
Firstly Stock 1934 mechanical brakes with 2 rods on the rear each side ( Separate E brake and Rear brakes) does have Teds Floaters . When I go to depress the brake pedal it appears stiff for the first 1/4-1/2 inch or so -I have to apply more force than normal and then suddenly I seem to pass through the range of stiffness and I am applying heavy brakes . Is a real problem in traffic as I can't apply a little braking in a controlled manner to maintain my distance to the car in front and I run the risk of the car behind rear ending me.

All the brake rods seem to move freely as do the cross shafts
I can't seem to adjust it out and wonder if the brake operating pins in the front are hanging up some how. I would appreciate any input -Karl

Karl,
Just a suggestion. Is it possible to isolate front from back brakes when you are checking linings. It may narrow it down for the finding of the "binding point" coming from front or rear brakes?

Just some feedback
I solved the problem . The drums and linings were all ok. What I did find was that the cam mechanism for the rear brakes was as dry as dry. A good greasing and the problem solved - That hidden grease nipple is forgotten a lot of the time and obviously has been by me ! -Karl

Karl,
Sometimes the routine ones get overlooked. My Marine Engr background,
reason for a failure, always quoted L.P.M. Lack of preventative maintenance.
This can be right in may cases, i can testify to that. But good to get it working nice as it should.
