Default FORGED Fender brackets == LEFT & RIGHT or Same?

I'm not the only guy building an A out of a pile of parts. Plan it to get the fenders roughed out but first I need to know if the 28-29 Forged brackets are the same left and right or do they have a subtle curve one way or another? Thanks! Bob

They are the same, but sometimes you need to bend them slightly to line up with the outer hole in the fender. DON'T try bending repro cast fender brackets. They will break easily with the slightest pressure whereas forged original brackets will bend without any problems. I actually took an original rear fender bracket that looked like it was made into a horseshoe shape - probably due to an accident. With a little heat, I restored it to the correct shape.

There is a left and right forged 28-29 front fender bracket . In other words , the left front fender bracket WON'T fit the right side ., Forged fender brackets were also used in early 1930 but the 1930 forged brackets won't interchange with the 28-29 forged fender brackets .

Sorry to disagree with Purdy, but there are no left and right front or rear brackets. Purdy, if you have a left and a right bracket with different part numbers, please post a picture of them to show the difference. Front fenders (and rear fenders) and the frame where they mount are symmetric, so why would the brackets be different. Think about it. Ford was frugal, so why would they make two different brackets when one would work. I have a number of the front and rear forged brackets and I can't tell the difference in any of them.

Please enlighten me if you have different brackets for the left and right sides.

I have a set of the early 30 forged ones.My friend brought them to me from a flea market when I was building a 28.Tag said Model A,he knew 28-29's were forged,so he bought them for me.I've had a lot of interested guys over the years, but none quite interested enough to buy them. Now did 28 or 29 at some point have some pressed steel ones? Seems I had a pair that were gusseted up pretty strongly but were very old.Might just have been early repros.

Keith,
The JS's state that stamped front and rear fender brackets started to be install on vehicles April 29, from being forged in all of 28 and the first part of 29. The 29 stamped front stamped fender brackets were used the remainder of 29. Ford change to wider forged front fender brackets (different than 28/early 29 forged front brackets) for some 1930 vehicles and a different stamped style from the 1929 stamped brackets sometime in 1930 through 31.

The bracket on the top is 28-9. The bottom bracket is early 30. The 30 has a longer "reach". Headlight bar mounts in a different location as well.

Also note the mounting area. The 28/29 is much thicker than the 30 bracket.
