Default Looking for a centrifugal advance distributor

I posted in the want ads and hope to find a vintage Mallory or model B distributor and downdraft manifold. Thanks, Greg.

I've got a B distributor that I think is usable. But, I won't be able to get to it until Friday.

Thanks Steve. Bill, It looks like they are no longer available, and I have heard those newer ones were not that good out of the box. I am not set on anything at this point so I appreciate any opinions on this.

Why not just go with a stock distributor?

Bubbas has new Mallory's that have been reworked for proper advance.

Thanks, Bob. I am definitely not ruling out Bubbas, I am sort of interested in period correct, if possible, but am open in my mind. I am going to do high compression head, downdraft stromberg and tube header. The Bubbas is starting to make more sense though!

If you are going with all the above mods, why don't you get an FSI zipper distributor? They look very close to the originals.

Nose, I basically did the same thing you are doing and I used a "B" distributor on mine. I was going to get one of Bubbas Mallory's, but he was in the process of moving and said he would get back to me in a few weeks. Mean while I had the B so I used it. Works fine for me.

In the UK a period mod was to fit the centrifugal advance distributor from the little sidevalve Popular/Prefect/Anglia engine

They drop straight in

Thousands of these cars imported to the US so there must be some still kicking about. There are two versions, the short one looks just like a Model B dizzy, the tall one as per the pics
