Default 38-39 Truck Door Lock removal

My 1939 Pickup project is slowly moving along. How do I remove the door lock? There is a hole in the door jamb side, can't tell if there is a screw or nut in there. Thanks! Bob

Do a little clean up and see. Over the years who knows what was done -- my 1936 pickup had an alan head threaded one. Not what was in there originally.
It should be a small screw that will either snap off or the slot will be shaved off when you attempt to remove it. Soak it with some of the best penetrating lube you have, and be patient. You dont want to drill it out.

The originals have a slotted head set screw.Very often they are broken which was the case in a 35 sedan I had .Difficult to get to and get out I ended up drilling it which wasn't easy.

just did this on my 39 tudor. it had a screw which looked like it was never touched. i proceeded to snap off half of it making it a real pain to drill out. finally got it out before ruining the tube that holds the screw. had to tap tube for a larger size and got it back together. Mark

Nice work. Never hurts to hit it with some kroil first.
