Default 40 Ford Flat 8 Generator Pully Removal

I've got a rebuilt generator headed my way. Probably wasn't one of my best decision to not have the rebuilder install a pulley on the generator before sending it in the mail. As I look at my old generator I have no idea how I am going to get the pulley off to install it on the rebuilt generator. This pulley is threaded on and I'm stumped. Anyone know any tricks?

I don't know if it is a trick but you can strip it down and hold the armature in a vice and use a strap wrench to undo the pulley. Use soft jaws or shaped pieces of wood to protect the armature.

There may be a pulley retaining clip in the recess at the front of the armature shaft. If so remove it prior to unscrewing the pulley.
