Default Victoria Changeover To Steel-Back

My conjecture is built upon observation of a list of 598 known surviving Victorias. My best guess on the basis of the list is that, the changeover to the Steel-back at Murray was between body numbers 190A28202 & 190A28269.

The list of surviving 190A Victorias is the intellectual property of the International Victoria Association. Access requires membership in the Association.
The Murray body numbers at the changeover in the list:
190A27924 Leather-back
190A28154 Leather-back
190A28202 Leather-back
190A28269 Steel-back
190A28359 Steel-back
190A28385 Steel-back

Bob
According to the Chicago Service letters, 5/18/31, additional body parts list, the first Steel back, according to Ford, was 28185.

You know...being so darn close between the two (only 17 units), I wonder just what the rutine was at the Murray plant as far as numbering. It could be that there was a mix of the two body types being assembled at the same time thus a "mix" of body numbers among that group till the Leather-backs ran out and continuing with the Steel-backs.

Hmmmmm????

I am elated that the changeover body numbers in the list vs the service letter are so close.

Pluck, what you suggests is just what I have thought for a while, Henry forecasted the creation of the Judging Standards and did his best to mess with us!

Seriously, your hypothesis is quite believable. The Victoria list is amazingly accurate. Great job of compiling data.

Most know that I am an early guy (first couple months of production) but I do have a thought that in the foreseeable future I will be finding a spot in my shop for a nice Steel-back. They've just got that look.
