Default New project this winter

Just finishing up hydraulic brakes on my ‘35. Considering next project will be an overdrive transmission. Is this what I s/b looking for? ‘Ford / Mercury Borg Warner 3 Spd T85C-1A WG DIV R11-1G Overdrive Transmission’
What modification to the x frame & wishbone are required. Looks like open drive shaft required. Anything else I should know appreciated!

Anthony ....Have ya lost your mind?

Have you ever tried to pick one up? Where you gonna find a floor shifter for it THESE DAYS? 1st gear ain't even synchronized! And it's huge, and it has all of that electrical mumbo-jumbo to HOPEFULLY make it work, not to mention all of that "stuff" sticking-out from it. Your CENTER X-member will be hugely in the way! And...you have the rear end to contend with, too.

There are WAY-MO-BETTER choices for an O/D, and I don't mean a Mitchell. But what do I know? DD

Was just considering it, still a novice on Early Fords & trying to get to the easiest solution to get beyond the horrible early 3 speeds on a modified engine & looking for easiest solution. Trusting your experience DD I’ll tank that as a viable idea ! I’m sure experienced FB guys like u DD knew, when you don’t know you ask, now I know & I’ll go back to mods required with S10 T5.
Thx !
PS: I have flirted with Crazy, she was fun!

I’ve seen & read the thread on the T5 mods to use the torque tube & thought about it.

I'm not as negative on the T85/R11 combination as Dick is. As a matter of fact, I'm looking for one for the "T" tub I am working on. They are one tough transmission, as is the overdrive unit, and I can double-clutch.

I already have the Fenton shifter for it.
