Carburetor for an AF engine: is it the same as for an A engine?
Can anyone tell me is the original carburetor for a Model AF (small bore for Europe) engine the same as the one for the basic Model A engine? I'm guessing that it would have a smaller throat to match the smaller bore intake manifold?
I'm looking for a carburetor for an AF engine (June 1929 car) and was offered this one (see photos). The plug screwed into the fuel intake of this carb is stamped "AF". Would that mean maybe that it is for an AF engine (industrial engine perhaps since the plug is where the normal fuel intake line would go)? Thank you for your comments. Brad in Maryland |

For the moment I have a AF and a A engine - what i can tell is that I've changed the carburetors from one engine to another, and I didn't noticed any difference. In fact they are both the same (exterior!)

Hi Brad
The cast body is the same the venturi is smaller diameter and the jets are smaller The compensater jet is a 17 instead of 19. It looks like you have one there, I have seen them marked like that before. but normally the filter is in the normal position. The intake manifold also has a smaller inside diameter .I have one if you need it also have other small bore parts including 2 engine blocks John Cochran |

The carburetor looks like it has the pin boss for the dual venturi. Is there a pin or hole in the pin boss? Dave |
