Weak Transverse Spring
Hi,
Has anyone had a transverse spring that was weaker on one side than the other? My 34 pickup seems to droop to the drivers side. The shackle is closer to the axle on the drivers side than the passenger side. When I jack the front horn of the frame so both sides are at the same height, the distance from shackle to axle is equal. I had this original spring re-arched at Spring-Align a year ago so it is too late to complain, but I can go back. Just wondering if it has been seen before. Could it have been re-arched too little on one side? I do not have a lot of experience with springs. Thanks, Al K. |

Re: Weak Transverse Spring
Make sure the square head on the spring tie bolt is in the square hole in the crossmember. Might also try loosening the nuts on the U bolts and tighten up on the high side first then the droopy side last.

Sorry I did not reply sooner, but I was going to try your suggestion before replying. As fate would have it, I got so busy, I never got to it. I do want to thank you for your advice and I will try it. Yes the square head is in the frame hole. I will loosen the ubolts as you suggested. Does anyone have an idea as to the proper distance from the bottom of the shackle to the axle? Or what the angle of the shackle would be? Again, thanks Ken. Al K. |
